BIO

With a return to analog and very eclectic, indie jazz, the project is starting a new era of the band, which was founded in 2007. In addition to the founding member Florian Scheffler (trumpet) there are now the proactive and ambitious musicians Kota Maeda (Japan, guitar), Mesut Gürsoy (Germany / Turkey, drums) and Lüder Lindau (Germany, bass). After a 5 year break, the second founding member Peter Herzau (Fender Rhodes, keys) returned to the band. For them, eclectic jazz means transferring the electro jazz of the original computer accompanied duo to the live generated structure of a quintet, using many effects and not being afraid of different musical styles. With their highly improvisational, undogmatic approach, the quintet fuses a wide variety of music styles such as jazz, dub, krautrock and funk. Sometimes danceable, sometimes melancholy, sometimes like the background music of a film or like a journey into the weightlessness of space.

SOME REVIEW

“The overdue debut album sounds close to the pulse of the times and offers urban sounds between chill-out and jazz club. Transit Elektro join the illustrious ranks of young musicians who are alien to any fear of contact between jazz and electro. If intelligent urban sounds combine a relaxed club feeling, cosmopolitanism and melancholy wanderlust, then Transit Elektro have set an example for this. World music sounds are organically combined with swirling synthie soundscapes, filigree to massive beats and echoing trumpet licks.”

“Trumpeter Florian Scheffler and his colleague Peter Herzau have one thing ahead of the city of Berlin: At their Airport, the mix of filigree electro beats, soft sound surfaces and jazzy trumpet themes is a harmonious mix.”
