The Gipsy Kings are a French band specializing in rumba Catalan, with a mix between flamenco and traditional pop music. The two families of the original members, The Reyes, fled to Cataluña during the Spanish Civil War like many others before, finally living in France.
GISPY KINGS: André Reyes (Guitar and Voice) Sings in different styles that mainly include traditional and popular elements of flamenco and Rumba
Their first hits were “Djobi Djoba” and “Bamboleo”, very popular in France despite the criticism of flamenco purists. The album “Gipsy Kings” was successful in several countries of Europe, especially in France and England, in 1989 the Gipsy Kings had a massive hit with the LP which was on the Billboard charts in USA for an amazing 40 weeks, and very few albums written in Castilian have ever achieved this!
Mario Reyes soloist and guitar genius has performed a duo with Andrea Bocelli and has been creator of the music of the series The Clone.
Chico Castillo “La voz ronca”, creator of the Gipsy Oriental Fusion and the hit Alabina, fuses pop with gipsy music.

What is Middlewich FAB Festival? Middlewich’s flagship event attracts visitors from around the UK and is the most successful event of its kind in the North West
A Brief History
The festival started in 1990 when a small group of locals decided to organise a folk festival. Just by chance the Trent & Mersey Canal Society were looking to start a boat rally, and so the `folk & boat` festival was born.
Thanks to support by Congleton Borough Council and Middlewich Town Council, the festival was an immediate success.
The voluntary committee grew with the festival, each member with a specific role or responsibility. It grew slowly/organically, without becoming over commercialised, staying true to its community spirit of `keeping it in the town`.
In 2011 Middlewich Town Council took on the organising of the festival and what we have today is a new format, with the aim of making it even more attractive (and affordable) to the community and to 1000s of visitors, many of who come back year after year.
Without doubt the festival now has huge financial benefits to the local economy. What we cannot begin to measure is the social benefit to our community and to visitors of all ages.
The FAB Festival is the envy of many local authorities and no wonder! `after 28 years it continues to develop and grow, and long may that continue`.
