Style

A modern fusion quartet led by guitar, where Mike Gotthard’s blues-rock phrasing meets a broader, more fluid jazz grammar. The rhythm section of Gergő Borlai and Martin Gudics drives the project toward an elastic, sharply defined groove able to absorb odd meters without losing immediacy. Erik Tempfli completes the DNA with open harmonic thinking and a contemporary timbral palette: the result is music that is sensual in attack, brutal in energy, and always melodic in design.

Profile

Mike Gotthard/Gergo Borlai Group is the most compact and readable form of Mike Gotthard’s authorial language: a project built on original compositions that move through jazz, blues, rock, and funk without treating genres as fenced territories, but rather as reservoirs of accents, timbres, and dynamics. Around Gotthard’s guitar, the band works through contrasts: tension and singability, rhythmic precision and spontaneity, electric impact and harmonic breadth. Borlai brings international-level metric drive, Gudics holds the center with a mobile, reactive bass voice, while Tempfli opens depth and color through keyboards that can be both structural and narrative. The dominant traits are energetic articulation, a modern fusion harmonic vocabulary, tight interplay, and a clear live-performance vocation: not a simple all-star vehicle, but an ensemble with its own identity, recognizable for its balance of technique, groove, and writing.

Details

Mike Gotthard
A Hungarian guitarist and composer, he forms the expressive center of the project with phrasing that blends blues lyricism, rock attack, and jazz-fusion development. Official and critical sources describe him as an author more interested in musical narrative than in technical display, with a language built on melody, groove, and reciprocal listening. Within the band, he is the main vector of aesthetic direction: themes, dynamic shifts, and formal design remain readable even when the ensemble opens into improvisation.

“Misi is a real bomb of energy whose musicality can speak equally to rock lovers and jazz devotees.” (György Szentgallay, review of “Intellectual Brutality”, 2016-11-11)

Martin Gudics
A bassist able to move across fusion, songwriter-driven pop, smooth jazz, and high-intensity technical contexts, he brings rhythmic elasticity and structural awareness to the group. His role goes beyond support: he builds links between guitar and drums, keeps metric transitions fluid, and strengthens the groove element without weighing down the texture. Within the band’s DNA, he represents the pole of balance: precise, but always in service of collective musical unity.

“By now we can say with pride that Martin Gudics belongs to the elite of bass players not only in his country, but worldwide.” (JazzMa.hu, presentation of “BVDA”, 2024-04-17)

Erik Tempfli
A pianist, keyboardist, and Artisjus Award-winning composer, he brings broad harmonic thinking and a timbral awareness that avoids both mere filling and decorative virtuosity. His parts help define the group’s breathing space: pads, organ colors, electric piano textures, and modern comping become tools of architecture rather than simple color. He is the member who most clearly expands the quartet’s tonal horizon and reinforces its melodic-contemporary side.

“The natural lightness of his touch is in perfect harmony with his personality; his playing and musical humour evoke the very greatest.” (JazzMa.hu editorial, 2020-12-12)

Gergő Borlai
An internationally established drummer and composer, Borlai acts as an identity accelerator for the project: rhythmic precision, dynamic control, advanced fusion vocabulary, and the ability to make even the most complex metric turns feel organic. His presence transforms the ensemble from an author-led group into a band with strong performance traction. In the group’s DNA he carries weight both as rhythmic engine and as a marker of prestige: his signature is recognizable in the energy, the clarity of pulse, and the dramatic handling of climaxes.

“Gergo has become one of the most exciting up-and-coming drummers today and continues to be recognized with each jaw-dropping solo.” (Drumeo, 2022-08-19)

Style

Contemporary blues wired into funk and jazz, with modern arrangements and a true stage-first drive. An iconic rhythm engine and a keyboard chair that can become bass: a trio that sounds like a full band. Set for October 2026, the music moves between wide grooves, singable themes, and high-intensity improvisation without losing song focus.

Profile

Davide Pannozzo leads an essential yet ambitious trio: guitar and vocals up front, with an expanded sound built on the idea of orchestrating every tune. The palette is modern blues, shot through with fusion accents and a decisive funk pulse; improvisation never becomes an end in itself, but stays narrative, shaping dynamics, timbre, and forward motion. Etienne Stadwijk works in textures and counterlines, switching between piano and keyboards while deploying a deep synth bass that redraws the balance of the band: the bass role turns mobile, harmonic, and rhythmic all at once. Steve Ferrone brings the authority of decades at the top of international rock and R&B: timing, weight, and space, with an elasticity that keeps the trio tight and always breathing. The result is high-voltage music rooted in tradition and designed for the present.

Details

Davide Pannozzo | Guitar, vocals
Classical training with an electric identity: a singing phrasing, controlled attack, and a vocabulary that crosses modern blues with jazz sensibility. In original material he favors clear themes and open-ended codas, letting the solo become a second verse. In trio format, the guitar carries melody and harmony without losing rhythmic weight.

“Today there are very few artists who can inspire and be full of ideas: Davide Pannozzo is one of them. From the first listen you know something special is happening…” (Will Lee, GUITARlab Blog, 2018-12-04)

Etienne Stadwijk | Piano, keyboards, synth bass
Pianist and keyboardist with Surinamese roots, Berklee training, and a New York base. His signature is the balance between European voicings, world colors, and an R&B-born sense of pocket. In this project he is also the harmonic bass, shaping synth-bass lines that give body and direction to the groove.

“The band was very tight, with really successful solos… (including Stadwijk’s).” (Maciek Pysz, London Jazz News, 2013-10-08)

Steve Ferrone | Drums
A benchmark for solidity and musicality: heavy hits when needed, but above all control of dynamics. His drumming connects rock, funk, and pop through a precise idea of space, letting the song breathe. In trio, he is the engine that makes every density shift feel inevitable, from raw blues to wide-open fusion.

“Over the past four decades, Ferrone’s taste, timing and impeccable groove have served him extremely well…” (Joe Bosso, MusicRadar, 2010-08-26)

A journey of fusion from the heart of Cuban Latin Jazz: Afro-Cuban pulse, modern harmony and funk propulsion—DETALLES turns micro-textures into big emotion, on record and on stage.

Profile

Recognized as one of the most versatile and expressive bassists on the international scene, Dany Noel is a key figure in the evolution of contemporary Latin Jazz. Originally from Cuba, he is a bassist and composer who has found his voice within the vibrant world of Latin Jazz. With a strong background in both traditional Cuban music and contemporary jazz, he has been part of major ensembles both on the island and internationally.

He stands out for his virtuosity, rhythmic sensitivity, and his ability to craft a unique musical language—one where Afro-Cuban roots meet jazz, flamenco, funk, and wider world-music colours. In his latest project, DETALLES, Dany Noel offers a sonic fusion that transcends genres, blending Latin Jazz with Afro-Cuban elements and funk. This work highlights not only his prowess as a bassist but also his vision as a producer and architect of a contemporary proposal full of nuance, colour, and emotion.

DETALLES is an invitation to listen beyond the obvious: to dive into the textures of rhythm and harmony, and to rediscover the richness of Cuban music from a modern, global perspective. More than just an album, it is a musical statement where technical precision meets heartfelt emotion. Each piece is carefully crafted to showcase the beauty of the small, the intimate, the essential. Dany Noel leads from the bass with elegance—also with his voice—and with the rhythmic drive that defines his signature.

Originally conceived as a trio recording, the project explores subtleties of rhythm and melody with a modern, minimalist aesthetic. In its live version, DETALLES evolves into something bigger: a vibrant collective experience with a full band of eight musicians on stage. With the expanded line-up, the music becomes a thrilling performance—where improvisation, polyrhythms and the energy of live interplay connect the audience to the pure essence of contemporary Latin fusion.

Details

DETALLES blends Latin Jazz with Afro-Cuban elements and funk, balancing technical precision with a direct emotional narrative.

Studio-born as a trio-minded concept with a modern, minimalist aesthetic, the repertoire expands live into a full-band set that amplifies energy, polyrhythm and real-time interaction.

The live format features bass and voice at the centre, surrounded by piano, electric guitar, trumpet, drums, percussion and two backing vocalists—built for call-and-response, groove development and open improvisation.

Style

Riff-first rock trio built for the stage: short-fuse energy, big hooks, no filler. Blues-rock grit with arena-ready choruses, Hendrix-era swagger, and modern punch. A locked rhythm engine under a frontwoman who writes, arranges, and drives the narrative.

Profile

Electric Lady are a lean, high-voltage trio fronted by guitarist–vocalist and songwriter Tereza Rays. Their sound sits where blues-rock muscle meets modern hard-rock immediacy: tight, riff-driven verses that open into melodic choruses built to travel. The band’s DNA is all about articulation and impact—crisp guitar attack, a bass line that stays warm and physical, and drums that hit with straight-ahead authority while leaving space for vocal phrasing.

On record and on stage, Electric Lady move like a single unit: the rhythm section locks into a punchy pocket, while the guitar alternates between dirty groove and bright, singing leads. References to classic rock icons are present in the tone and swagger, but the writing keeps the focus on direct storytelling and cathartic release.

Details

Tereza Rays | Guitar, voice Writer-arranger at the center of the project, shaping songs around riff clarity and vocal urgency. A blues-rock foundation with a modern, radio-ready sense of structure and hook placement. Known for an assertive stage presence where lead lines stay melodic even at full distortion. Recent studio and live work connects her to high-profile UK production and legacy-rock circles. “Vocalist and guitarist Tereza Rays is a tour de force… Her vocals soared and dipped with effortless control.” (Sara Harding, MetalTalk, 2025-09-11)

Cayman | Bass A bassist who prioritizes weight and glue: round low-end, steady drive, and quick dynamic shifts. Brings a band-player mindset—supporting riffs, reinforcing choruses, and tightening transitions. Comfortable in power-trio arrangements where every note has to hold the room. A background in rock projects beyond Electric Lady feeds a grounded, performance-forward feel. “Cayman on bass and Robin Evans on drums match Tereza’s energy and power… share the same undeniable love for creating music.” (Mariam Atef, Rock Era Magazine, 2025-07-13)

Robin Evans | Drums A drummer built for forward motion: firm backbeat, confident accents, and clean, driving fills. Keeps the groove anchored while staying responsive to vocal phrasing and guitar pushes. Balances punch with economy—no excess, just momentum and control. Active across multiple UK rock contexts, bringing a seasoned live sensibility to the trio. “Riffs blasted through this venue, while Evans and Cayman locked into the groove.” (Sara Harding, MetalTalk, 2025-09-11)

Franck Biyong is available with two different amazing projects:
Franck Biyong & Lipombe Jazz (Afrobeat-AfroJazz) and Afrobrainz (Electronic-Funk-Rock)

LIPOMBE JAZZ (Afrobeat-AfroJazz)

Lipombe Jazz is the more organic, Afro-jazz oriented branch of Franck Biyong’s creative universe: a project built around African groove, ensemble writing and a strong narrative impulse. Conceived as a meeting point between Afrobeat, Afro-jazz and Cameroonian musical memory, it develops a warm, ritualistic and cinematic sound, blending tradition with a contemporary outlook. On Ibolo Ini, that identity comes into focus through layered rhythm, rich timbral depth and a distinctly pan-African sense of motion.

AFROBRAINZ (Electronic-Funk-Rock)

Afrobrainz is Franck Biyong’s alternative Afro-electro-rock project, where electronic funk, guitar-driven rock energy and African rhythmic language meet in a consciously crossover form. Built within his broader Afrolectric vision, the project pushes toward a sharper, more urban and more amplified sound, combining groove, distortion, hooks and pan-African pulse. Afrobrainz presents Biyong in his most electric mode: forward-looking, rhythmically charged and designed to connect club energy with live-band intensity.

ABOUT

Franck Biyong’s solo project turns Afrobeat lineage, Afro-rock guitar language and futurist production into one highly individual signature. It moves between makossa pulse, electric funk, psychedelic rock and jazz-minded arrangement without losing dance-floor intent. The result is Afrolectric: historically rooted, rhythm-forward and sonically restless.

Profile

Franck Biyong is a Cameroonian composer, guitarist, bandleader and producer whose work bridges African rhythmic memory with an adventurous electric language. Raised across Gabon, Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire before settling in the UK as a teenager, and trained at the National Institute of Arts in Abidjan, he developed a musical identity shaped equally by West and Central African traditions, rock guitar culture and forward-looking studio experimentation. As the creator of the Afrolectric sound, Biyong has built a catalogue that stretches from the early Massak records to recent releases such as Moonwatching 2, Radio Masoda and Struggle 4 Money. His artistic profile combines the historical awareness of an archivist, the instinct of a groove architect and the appetite of a sonic explorer. The result is music that can sound ceremonial, urban, psychedelic and political at once, while remaining unmistakably African in pulse and perspective.

Details

Franck Biyong stands out for the way he treats the electric guitar as both lead voice and textural engine. His writing often connects African rhythmic structures to rock tension, jazz openness and cinematic arrangement. Across albums, singles and collaborative projects, he has built a language that is as concerned with memory and lineage as it is with modernity, distortion and motion. That balance makes him a compelling proposition for festivals, theatres, listening venues and editorial platforms looking for an African artist with a clear signature rather than a generic crossover profile.

“The way Franck Biyong composes is unlike any other musician you will find.”

CAMERA SOUL is a powerful jazz-funk ensemble, produced by Mr. Marco Rossi of Azzurra Music (Verona) and released and marketed in the Americas by Kathryn Ballard Shut of TIMKAT Entertainment (Denver, Colorado). Inspired by legendary horn line, soul, R&B, and jazz-fusion artists such as Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores, Tower of Power, and Stevie Wonder, as well as neo-soul grooves by Incognito, Erykah Badu, and Jamiroquai, the group is based out of southern Italy (Bari), and led by veteran composer-arranger brothers Piero and Pippo Lombardo.

Camera Soul’s distinctive sound is further defined by the sweet and soulful voice of lead vocalist Maria Enrica Lotesoriere (Dress Code – 2015 and Connections – 2017) and formerly by Serena Brancale on the group’s first two albums (Words Don’t Speak – 2011 and Not For Ordinary People – 2013). The group features a world-class lineup of studio and live performance musicians, including Pippo Lombardo (piano), Beppe Sequestro (bass), Antonio Tosques (lead guitar, 2015-present), Francesco Palmitessa (lead guitar, 2011-2013), Gianluca Cardellichio (rhythm guitar, 2011-2014), Liviana Ferri (percussion), Fabio Delle Foglie (drums, 2014-present), Mimmo Campanale (drums, 2011-2013), Daniele Scannapieco and Bruno Tassone (tenor sax), Gianfranco Campagnoli and Alberto Di Leone (trumpet), and Piero Dotti and Elio Arcieri (background vocals). Camera Soul has released four studio albums – Words Don’t Speak (2011), Not For Ordinary People (2013), Dress Code (2015), and now, Connections (2017). Each album delivers powerful jazz-funk, neo-soul, progressive Jazz, and a mixture of genres that have earned the group international critical acclaim, as well as worldwide distribution in Europe, America, and Japan. 2016 proved to be another explosive year of growth for Italian jazz-funk supergroup CAMERA SOUL, which kicked off with the band’s debut at the internationally famous Umbria Winter Jazz Fest #23 in Orvieto, Italy, in the province that shares its name — and in the same mountainous province which this past summer would experience mass devastation thanks to several major earthquakes.

The festival, which showcased Camera Soul alongside jazz greats such as Kurt Elling and Big Band, as well as Portland-based neo-soul star Jarrod Lawson and The Good People, ended on January 3, 2016. Once complete, the group headed into the studio to begin recording its fourth studio album, “Connections” (Azzurra Music), set to release worldwide on both CD and digital versions on January 25, 2017. With each effort since 2011, the group’s leaders, composer-brothers Piero and Pippo Lombardo, strive to raise both the musical and story bar. With “Connections”, their longest and most robust album to date, Camera Soul offers 18 tracks that feature five instrumental interludes and thirteen full-length songs, all in deep tribute and memory of one of the composers’ unquestioningly pervasive influences: producer, musician, and co-founder of Earth, Wind and Fire, Mr. Maurice White, whom the world lost this past year. In addition to honoring Mr. White, the Lombardo brothers chose the album’s title and theme, “Connections”, to be a continuous story arc of human interaction that reaches into every track and delves into the various ways that we affect each other daily. For example, on dance anthem, “Help Yourself”, lead vocalist Maria Enrica Lotesoriere encourages her mate to ‘Help yourself to find your happiness’, as she refuses to be the sole source of it. “Black Cat”, a darkly funky trip, evokes a Stevie Wonder-esque mood of people bowing to old superstitions – “A black cat / Under the ladder … / A broken mirror / On Friday 13 …” And while there are certainly tales of various “love connections” about, “No Such Thing” specifically relates an unwanted, first-date connection who cannot seem to “take the hint” that there is no future relationship to be had. After a month of pleading, the driving chorus finally demands, “Hey! / Leave me ‘lone / Shuffle off! / Find a home!”
