Maaike Girardin is a Dutch Canadian singer and songwriter who travels the world with her music. Her signature voice, full of feminine sensitivity, discusses hidden thoughts, confessions and broken hearts, which she conveys with charm to her listener as an expert by experience.
Maaike invites you to relive her physical and emotional journeys, but this time through her poetic lyrics and folky guitar playing. Performances at the Swedish embassy in Hanoi and the Blue Note Jazz Club in Milan are moments she can look back on with pride.
She has something personal. She introduces you to her world. She is naked and shares her emotions. She shares who she really is. It doesn’t sound like anyone else. She is only Maaike Girardin. This is what an artist does. – Dariana Koumanova Conductor of the Sanremo Festival Orchestra.
Maaike Girardin has won multiple awards at the Artist Voice Music conference in Italy. In the summer of 2019 she returned to the Netherlands to devote herself full-time to her music in combination with her Songwriting studies at the Rock Academy. Franck Biyong | Afrobeat/Electronic/Jazz/Rock
FRANCK BIYONG
Afrobeat, Electronic, Jazz, Rock
Franck Biyong is available with two different amazing projects:
Franck Biyong & Lipombe Jazz (Afrobeat-AfroJazz) and Afrobrainz (Electronic-Funk-Rock)
BIO
FRANCK BIYONG
AFRICA’S 21ST CENTURY ROCK GUITAR HERO
Growing up in Gabon, Nigeria and Ivory Coast before settling in the UK at age 14, Franck Biyong lived in households filled with good music. Little wonder why the towering Cameroonian artist is a composer, guitar player, singer, band leader and producer. This master of musical interpretation recalls American Jazz guitarist, Wes Montgomery’s “Canadian Sunset” as the song that set him down his musical path as a pre-teen.
Fanck Biyong went on to cultivate a personal and passionate relationship with music, recognizing it as “spiritual food for the soul”. Receiving musical instruction and training at the National Institute of Arts in Abidjan (Ivory Coast), he scorched a brilliant path with his electric guitar and became a reporter of human emotions and feelings. Franck translated these experiences into several Afro Beat and Afro Jazz albums that made people move, laugh, dance, cry and meditate.
Fanck Biyong has played at countless spots around the globe including SOB’s in New York and the Montreal Jazz Festival. Franck has also enjoyed European tours with music legends such as Nigerian Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen and Ghanaian Highlife guitarist Ebo Taylor. Franck has also worked with Wyclef Jean as well as Salif Keita, King Sunny Ade, Culture Musical Club, Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Olamide, Waje, Phyno, Efya, Diamond Platnumz and Vanessa Mdee during his time as Music Director on Coke Studio Africa Season 1 & 2.
But Franck Biyong, a consummate performer and creator, has reinvented himself.
In 2016, he shared his vision for Alternative Afro-Electro-Rock and Crossover Music with the recording of the LIYOMBA CHURCH single. This exciting single mined the link between rock and electro with dazzlingly good results. Clever use of Swahili lyrics made it immediately familiar with fans in East Africa and the rest of the continent for whom this Bantu language resonates with many of their own.
This is in line with the Pan-African ideals underpinning Franck’s new sound. And, one of two logical evolutions of African Music; the other being creating musical forms that would appeal to diverse audiences regardless of their age and knowledge about new types of African music: “We have to adapt to change, not to dissolve totally our identity and unique approach to music, but to bridge the gap between where we were and where we should go”.
And, Franck is leading the pack…
Having been a musician for decades and with diverse influences and references (from Francis Bebey to Frank Zappa), Fanck Biyong serves as a
“filter” through which two different streams are passing. The first stream is represented by music of the past generation that he hopes to pass on to the next; stretched out, revamped and modernized. While the second is the modern urban sounds that he plans to incorporate, develop and confront working with musical forms that do not belong together in the first place.
Another aspect of Franck’s futuristic idea of African Music is defined by artistic independence and total freedom of expression. This is a marked departure from the current strong push towards commercialization of image in place of music.
Perhaps his new rock oriented project will herald crossover exposure and breakthrough on the international scene…and it may also finally alter the perception of African Music and its musicians at large.

“A cheerful and fresh job; different from most of the records in circulation today … Spain, Africa, Caribbean, North America, all the “Colores” of world music in a work that to ascribe to the “world music” genre would perhaps be an understatement: listen to it, there are eight hypnotic songs and engaging, which will not leave you indifferent!“.

Camera Soul | Soul/Funky/Jazz (IT)
Camera Soul
Soul, Funky, Jazz (IT)
Pippo Lombardo (Piano)
Alex Milella (Guitar)
Fabio Delle Foglie (drums)
Beppe Sequestro (bass)
Maria Enrica Lotesoriere (vocals)
CAMERA SOUL is a powerful jazz-funk ensemble, produced by Mr. Marco Rossi of Azzurra Music (Verona) and released and marketed in the Americas by Kathryn Ballard Shut of TIMKAT Entertainment (Denver, Colorado). Inspired by legendary horn line, soul, R&B, and jazz-fusion artists such as Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores, Tower of Power, and Stevie Wonder, as well as neo-soul grooves by Incognito, Erykah Badu, and Jamiroquai, the group is based out of southern Italy (Bari), and led by veteran composer-arranger brothers Piero and Pippo Lombardo.
Camera Soul’s distinctive sound is further defined by the sweet and soulful voice of lead vocalist Maria Enrica Lotesoriere (Dress Code – 2015 and Connections – 2017) and formerly by Serena Brancale on the group’s first two albums (Words Don’t Speak – 2011 and Not For Ordinary People – 2013). The group features a world-class lineup of studio and live performance musicians, including Pippo Lombardo (piano), Beppe Sequestro (bass), Antonio Tosques (lead guitar, 2015-present), Francesco Palmitessa (lead guitar, 2011-2013), Gianluca Cardellichio (rhythm guitar, 2011-2014), Liviana Ferri (percussion), Fabio Delle Foglie (drums, 2014-present), Mimmo Campanale (drums, 2011-2013), Daniele Scannapieco and Bruno Tassone (tenor sax), Gianfranco Campagnoli and Alberto Di Leone (trumpet), and Piero Dotti and Elio Arcieri (background vocals). Camera Soul has released four studio albums – Words Don’t Speak (2011), Not For Ordinary People (2013), Dress Code (2015), and now, Connections (2017). Each album delivers powerful jazz-funk, neo-soul, progressive Jazz, and a mixture of genres that have earned the group international critical acclaim, as well as worldwide distribution in Europe, America, and Japan. 2016 proved to be another explosive year of growth for Italian jazz-funk supergroup CAMERA SOUL, which kicked off with the band’s debut at the internationally famous Umbria Winter Jazz Fest #23 in Orvieto, Italy, in the province that shares its name — and in the same mountainous province which this past summer would experience mass devastation thanks to several major earthquakes.
The festival, which showcased Camera Soul alongside jazz greats such as Kurt Elling and Big Band, as well as Portland-based neo-soul star Jarrod Lawson and The Good People, ended on January 3, 2016. Once complete, the group headed into the studio to begin recording its fourth studio album, “Connections” (Azzurra Music), set to release worldwide on both CD and digital versions on January 25, 2017. With each effort since 2011, the group’s leaders, composer-brothers Piero and Pippo Lombardo, strive to raise both the musical and story bar. With “Connections”, their longest and most robust album to date, Camera Soul offers 18 tracks that feature five instrumental interludes and thirteen full-length songs, all in deep tribute and memory of one of the composers’ unquestioningly pervasive influences: producer, musician, and co-founder of Earth, Wind and Fire, Mr. Maurice White, whom the world lost this past year. In addition to honoring Mr. White, the Lombardo brothers chose the album’s title and theme, “Connections”, to be a continuous story arc of human interaction that reaches into every track and delves into the various ways that we affect each other daily. For example, on dance anthem, “Help Yourself”, lead vocalist Maria Enrica Lotesoriere encourages her mate to ‘Help yourself to find your happiness’, as she refuses to be the sole source of it. “Black Cat”, a darkly funky trip, evokes a Stevie Wonder-esque mood of people bowing to old superstitions – “A black cat / Under the ladder … / A broken mirror / On Friday 13 …” And while there are certainly tales of various “love connections” about, “No Such Thing” specifically relates an unwanted, first-date connection who cannot seem to “take the hint” that there is no future relationship to be had. After a month of pleading, the driving chorus finally demands, “Hey! / Leave me ‘lone / Shuffle off! / Find a home!”

NOVO | Singer Songwriter (IT)
NOVO
Singer Songwriter (IT)
NOVO | Per la biografia in italiano, clicca qui.
NOVO NEW VIDEOCLIP: “PALLUNI RUCCATI”
Novo, is a singer-songwriter from Messina, Sicily. Musically it can be placed in the pop / folk scene.
The themes of his texts go from the social to the sentimental, often with an ironic vein, at times controversial.
He took his first steps as a singer in small formations at the age of 19 with classic cover and hard rock but without being able to perform live.
Only at the age of 22, with the Limited Edition group of which he is singer and guitarist in second, with a pop rock repertoire, will perform on several occasions in local and public and private events.
With this training he recorded his first demo entitled “Musa”.
After the experience with the Limited Edition, Novo continues to cultivate his passion for music and in this case in writing and composing music while remaining inactive.
At the age of 25, in 2013, with friends, Danilo Donato (guitarist), Mirco Sapienza (drums), Giuliano Cento (bass) founded Pro Bono, a band whose goal is the production of new songs. Also in this case, besides that of singer, Novo covers the role of second guitarist and author of the band’s songs.
With this training he presents himself at the “Tour Music Fest” with the unreleased track “Dottor Feelgood”, stopping at the second stage of the event.
Later on, with Pro Bono he will record two demos, “Delocalizzescion” and “Lento Lamento”. These will present their works performing at the Rockerilla (Torregrotta, ME).
After the Pro Bono experience in the summer of 2014, thanks to the drummer and friend Mirco Sapienza he came into contact with JWolf productions and met the keyboardist and arranger Dario Lisitano. Here, with the latter, he starts working on his first solo work, or an EP entitled “To not impress us anymore”.
On June 19, 2016, on youtube, he published his first single “Generation 1000 euros?” Awaiting the definitive launch of his ep.
On June 22nd 2016 he is a guest at Radio Zenith Messina for the presentation of his single (“Generazione mille euro?)
In December 2016 he performed at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele of Messina for the event “The gallery that I would like”.
In May 2017 he publishes the video of his new single “Sulle Spiagge di Lei”.
Later Novo takes part in various events held in Messina performing at the “Music Festival 2017” and performing itinerant performances for the initiative sponsored by the municipality of Messina #BusForMe.
In July 2017 he released his first self-produced ep, “Per non impressionarci più”, containing six unreleased tracks, accompanied by a video clip of the song “Prima della regina”. Everything is presented on the city radio “RadioStreet”.
In August he follows on with performances in various local places of Messina and takes part in the “Messina OlymParty” (MOP 2017), an artistic-sporting event that will host the selections of Sanremo Giovani. On the final night of the 2017 MOP, Novo will open the Zero Assoluto concert with the songs “Generazione mille euro?” and “Prima della regina”.
For his videos and performances, Novo will get the attention of online newspapers, TV and local newspapers such as TempoStretto, Tcf and La Gazzetta del Sud.
In July 2019 he is selected (among submissions from all over Sicily) by the artistic director Mario Incudine, famous sicilian art director and songwriter, for the Antillo Folk Fest contest. The final phase is held on July 13th, an evening presented by Salvo La Rosa, the most famous tv presenter in Sicily.
Novo competes with two pieces composed by him, “Sulle Spiagge di Lei” and “Malatia” winning the first prize awarded by the jury chaired by Pippo Rinaldi, aka Kaballà (songwriter and author for artists of the caliber of Carmen Consoli, Mario Venuti, Eros Ramazzotti, Antonella Ruggero, Nina Zilli and many others). He was awarded a musical production and, on July 14, opened the concert “Grande Sud” by Eugenio Bennato, Mario Incudine and Peppe Servillo (Avion Travel).
The video clip of the thrilling song in Sicilian dialect “Palluni Ruccati”, published on 24.06.2021, reached 10,000 views and 500 likes in 4 days.

Akinola Sennon | Steel Pan, Afro Jazz (USA)
Akinola Sennon
Steel Pan, Afro Jazz
Akinola Sennon started attending the Joseph School of the Arts in 1991, from age seven, learning to play the cuatro and studying the theory of music. He then moved on to playing two other instruments, the guitar and the piano at the said music school in Siparia, under the tutelage of Mr. Ashford Joseph. By age ten, Akinola was arranging musical compositions for his sibling to perform at his school concerts and recitals, since they all attended the same school.
Akinola Sennon started playing the steelpan in Standard Three with Mr Roland ‘Moose’ Joseph and at that point, he fell deeply in love with the instrument. During this time, he also played the guitar with the school and church choir. Miss Valdez, the school choir Mistress, was quite a huge influence in developing his musical ability. Mr Joseph nurtured his talent during that early period by taking him to many competitions and exposing us to the steelpan fraternity. Akinola Sennon remembers Mr Roland ‘Moose’ Joseph taking him to Pantrinbago’s Annual General Meetings and introducing him to various persons.
Akinola Sennon joined Siparia Deltones in 1996 for the Panorama season and also the Stage Side. It was there that he met Mr Carlton ‘Zanda’ Alexander. Akinola vividly remembers him asking him one day, “Young man, do you know your scales?” to which Akinola Sennon said “Yes.” He then instructed him, “Play me this scale,” which Akinola did. He then replied, “Ok, well do you know your chord scales?” Akinola again answered, “Yes.”He instructed, “Well play me this chord scale.” Akinola played the scale and he then requested him to play him the same chord scale from the 2nd inversion and that was where the trouble started. That was the beginning of a 17 year old relationship. Akinola has been his understudy since then.
Akinola Sennon was inducted as a member of the Coal Pot band which was led by Mr. Zanda. This band was basically a Kaiso/Jazz fusion ensemble with horns, vocals, piano, bass guitar and steelpan. He performed extensively at all the leading jazz and fusion shows throughout the nation, including Tobago Jazz Festival, San Fernando Jazz Festival, Sanch Apri Carnival, Siparia Jazz Festival, Point Jazz Festivaland many more. At age 18, he also began playing with Clive Alexander, Carlton’s older brother. This was also quite an experience and has significantly contributed to his overall development, especially his weekly performances at the Satchmo’s Jazz club on Ariapita Avenue for a number of months.
In 2003, Akinola Sennon became the captain of Siparia Deltones’ junior band and later went on to become the captain of the senior band. He has worked with the National Steel Symphony Orchestra for one year and the Pan in the Classroom Unit. Akinola Sennon has taught at Forest Reserve Anglican School, Fyzabad Presbyterian School, Iere High school, Palo Seco Government School and Trinidad Renaissance Preparatory School.
In 2009, Akinola played the role of the musical director for steel pan promotion in Canada, where, Siparia Deltones and I, did workshops throughout the country.
As an Arranger, he has composed for the Southern Marines Steel band Foundation placing 3rdin the Small Band Category of the Panorama competition of 2010. He won the Primary School category of the Sanfest Competition for four years in a row from 2010; three times with Forest Reserve Anglican School and one year with Trinidad Renaissance Preparatory School of which he is their musical director. Akinola Sennon also won the Pan for Blue Competition with Forest Reserve Anglican School in 2013.
He is presently the executive director and musical director of Siparia Deltones, where his intention is to have this instrument evolved globally. The designer of the band’s syllabus and course structure is what he is. Together with his band, Siparia Deltones, in 2013, they recorded an album with Hugh Masekela for which Akinola Sennon played the role of Project Coordinator and steelpan soloist.
Earlier this year, he travelled to the Netherlands to participate in the Amsterdams Conservatorium Van Summer Jazz Workshop where he is the first pan player to be accepted to be part of the prestige workshop. After that experience in the Netherlands, Akinola Sennon made a decision that the world should hear his voice more loudly via his pan. For whilst there he usually was approached and asked about his upcoming tours and albums due to students being overwhelmed by his playing ability. Akinola made the decision to do his first album, a project of the Deltones Institute of Steel Drums and music in collaboration with Berklee College, New England conservatory and Manhattan School of music students.
